Overview
Titanium plate and titanium block require separate product definitions on the purchase order. ASTM B265 and GB/T 3621 are reference standards for titanium sheet and plate; they should not be used automatically as the complete product standard for a forged block or another block route. A block inquiry needs a drawing or length by width by height, the exact alloy designation, the applicable material and product standard, manufacturing route, delivery or heat-treatment condition, surface condition, inspection scope, and acceptance criteria. A plate inquiry should state thickness, width, length, flatness or tolerance needs, and surface protection. Applications depend on alloy, product form, design code, and service environment. Aerospace, pressure, or critical chemical service also requires project-specific qualification and document review before any supply route can be confirmed.
Product scope
- Plate-standard references are not applied automatically to block products.
- Product form, manufacturing route, delivery condition, and heat treatment are reviewed as separate fields.
- Critical-service qualification remains subject to the project specification and document review.
